KUCHING: The esteemed Kenyalang Journalism Awards (KJA) 2025 is set to recognise outstanding journalistic work across ten categories, ranging from feature writing and news reporting to photojournalism and digital economy coverage.
The ten award categories this year are: Feature and News Feature, News Reporting, Sports Reporting, Broadcast Journalism, Sustainability Journalism, Business & Economic Journalism, Community Well-being Journalism, Photo Journalism, Photo Essay, and Digital Economy Journalism.
Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA) President, Ronnie Teo Teck Wei, said the association has already contacted winners from outside Kuching, including Sibu and Miri, and will extend invitations to local winners within the week.
The awards, organised by KDJA, will be held on Saturday, December 20, at the Pullman Hotel Kuching under the theme ‘Satria Gala (Sarawak Colours)’.
A total of 433 entries were submitted this year, demonstrating the dedication of Sarawak’s media professionals.
The judging process was overseen by the Malaysia Press Institute (MPI).
The event continues to enjoy strong support from key sponsors, with the Sarawak State Government returning as Platinum Sponsor, while PETRONAS, Sarawak Energy, Shell Malaysia, Bintulu Port, and Press Metal back the awards as Gold Sponsors.
The KJA remains open exclusively to active members of recognised journalists associations in Sarawak, including KDJA, Sibu Journalists Association (SJA), Institute of Rejang Journalists (IRJ), and Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA), who are employed by registered media organisations.
