KUCHING: A total of 874 Kolej Vokasional graduates from across Sarawak received their diplomas at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre here today.

The ceremony was the final leg of the Ministry of Education’s (MoE) 10th Vocational College Convocation, which spanned three regions across Malaysia between April 6 and 18.

The graduates, drawn from 15 diploma programmes, were honoured in two sessions of 437 graduates each.

One session conferred diplomas in technical trades including Culinary Arts, Air-Conditioning Technology, Welding Technology, Electrical Technology, and Construction Technology, among others.

Another recognised graduates from service-oriented fields such as Tourism Management, Automotive Technology, Business Management, Fashion Design, Cosmetology, and Information Technology.

Sarawak’s graduates also distinguished themselves on the national stage, with three students from the state claiming top honours at the convocation.

Esther Puyang Jalai of Kolej Vokasional Miri and Aaron Dylan Nelson Cuni of Kolej Vokasional Matang were both named Best Student Award recipients.

Wardina Batrisyia Nasib, a Culinary Arts graduate from Kolej Vokasional Kuching, received the prestigious Director-General of Education Award.

All three award recipients were presented with a certificate, plaque and a cash prize of RM1,000.

TVET Division’s Director, Zulkernai Fauzi, described the convocation as a symbol of MoE’s enduring commitment to strengthening vocational education nationwide.

Kolej Vokasional remains a credible and prestigious pathway for producing skilled workers and technical professionals ready for the demands of modern industry,” he said.
