KUCHING: The much-awaited Fairfield By Marriott Bintulu Paragon Hotel has officially opened its doors to the public.
General Manager of Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) Rodziah Morshidi officiated at the opening ceremony yesterday.
The first hotel within Naim Group of Companies is also Bintulu’s first international hotel.
Fairfield by Marriott is a global leader in the mid-tier hotel segment, and is Marriott International’s second-largest distributed brand with more than 750 hotels worldwide.
The Fairfield By Marriott Bintulu Paragon features 230 tastefully designed accommodation rooms, complemented by a host of facilities for its guests.
Derrick Felix, the hotel’s general manager said the opening of the hotel will set a benchmark in hospitality service in Bintulu.
“Upon commencement of operation, Fairfield By Marriott Bintulu Paragon will help bring world-class hospitality service standards to Bintulu, boosting Bintulu’s and ultimately, Sarawak’s appeal as a destination for business and leisure travellers.
“With Bintulu’s visitor demand increasing due to the influx of investment into Samalaju via the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) development, the opening of Fairfield by Marriott Bintulu Paragon is timely to cater to this growing demand,” he said.
Meanwhile, Naim’s Group deputy managing director, Christina Wong said as the hotel is part of the Group’s flagship Naim Bintulu Paragon integrated development, it will help create a more vibrant business and retail environment within the development.
“The hotel adds to a list of vibrant development components there, which include Naim Street Mall, Naim Small Office Versatile Office (SOVO) and the soon-to-completed Naim The Peak Condominium Homes. Very importantly, the hotel will add value to the catchment within Naim Bintulu Paragon, a factor which enhances the development’s business and retail environment.”
