KUCHING: The Information Department (JaPen) is hosting the ‘Selfie Wefie Merdeka 2021 Sarawak’ and ‘KDS Tik Tok Merdeka Challenge’ online competitions from Aug 18 to Sept 18.

The competitions were launched by Sarawak JaPen director Swady Guliling on the department’s official Facebook page.

“The public are encouraged to celebrate Merdeka month in full spirit while complying with Covid-19 standard operating procedures.

“The competitions aim to promote and heightened the spirit of patriotism among Malaysians,” he said on Wednesday (August 18).

The ‘Selfie Wefie Merdeka 2021 Sarawak’ competition is open to all Malaysians residing in Sarawak and there is no age limit.

“Submissions can be made to Sarawak JaPen’s Facebook page. Participants must include the following hashtags – selfiewefiemerdeka, #DemiNegara, #khabardarisarawak, #MalaysiaPrihatin dan #HKHM2021.”

Meanwhile, the ‘KDS Tik Tok Merdeka Challenge’ is open to all Malaysians residing in Sarawak who are 18 years and above.

The participants must also be followers of the TikTok account @khabardarisarawak and only video entry is permitted with a duration of between 15 and 30 seconds.

“The video entry must tag the TikTok account @khabardarisarawak and include the following hashtags – #KDSTikTokMerdeka, #MalaysiaPrihatin, #HKHM2021, #khabardarisarawak.

“Besides submitting original works, participants must show their faces and the video must contain messages related to Hari Merdeka or Malaysia Day.”

Result for both competitions will be announced in September and the winners will be contacted by Sarawak JaPen.

“The winner of ‘KDS Tik Tok Merdeka Challenge’ will bring home RM500 and a digital certificate while the winner of ‘Selfie Wefie Merdeka 2021 Sarawak’ will bring home RM300 and a digital certificate.”
