MIRI: A total of 74 youths received their certificates at the National Youth Vocational Institute (IKBN) 14th graduation ceremony here on Saturday.

Ministry of Youth and Sports deputy secretary general (strategic) Ramona Mohd Razali said to date 4,664 youths have graduated from IKBN Miri since 2003.

“The marketability rate of IKBN Miri graduates is high, for the year 2019, 93 per cent of our graduates succeeded in getting employment, and this figure was retained the following year, while in 2021, there was a minor drop to 91.4 per cent,” she said.

Ramona is optimistic that with various initiatives being implemented to provide skilled labour that meets the needs of industries, the technical and vocational education and training (Tvet) programme could become a new avenue for youths seeking employment.

Overall, in these past three years , the marketability rate of Youth and Sports Ministry Training Institute (ILKBS) TVET graduates has exceeded 90 per cent.

“This is a crucial indicator that proves that these graduates are the best choice for various segments of industry abroad or domestically,” she said.
