KUCHING: The upcoming Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Sheda) Property Expo 2022 has seen 80 per cent of the booths taken up.
Organising chairman Ir John Yong Lock Ping said the encouraging take-up indicated that the property market was healthy, dynamic and growing.
“The positive response to local attractions such as the Borneo Music Festival and Kuching Food Festival, and the return of the Intercultural Mooncake Festival and What About Kuching (WAK) Festival, are also signs that the economy is picking up across various sectors,” he said on Friday (Aug 26).
He said potential homeowners interested in strata-titled properties would be able to browse and compare from a large selection at the expo.
“Potential B40 homeowners will also be able to benefit from a special grant through Mutiara Mortgage and Finance (MMF) under the Housing Deposit Assistance Scheme (HDAS).
“Further to the announcement made by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, during the Sheda Annual Dinner and Excellence Awards ceremony on Aug 10, RM40mil had been set aside for this purpose.
“B40 purchasers may be able to receive up to RM10,000 per person to assist in deposit payments.”
In addition, Yong said the balance of the loan financing through MMF was set at one per cent interest rate.
Meanwhile, the main sponsors of expo, which is held from Sept 20 to Oct 2, are Naim Land Sdn Bhd, Lee Onn Development Sdn Bhd, Chen Ling Development Sdn Bhd and CMS Properties Sdn Bhd.
The event is supported by the Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, the Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia and the Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak.
