SIBU: The public is urged to spread the word about the existence of the Juma’ani Tuanku Haji Bujang Welfare Complex.

In making that call, its chairman Datuk Mohamad Yusnar Matalie said the welfare complex can accommodate around 80 children.

However, he said that up to date, the welfare complex only has around 60 children under its roof, and there are still rooms for others to fill.

“We can cater to around 40 girls and 40 boys in our welfare complex. However, now we have around four more quotas for boys and about 18 for girls.

“So, I urged the attendees and the public out there to spread the word about the existence of this complex so that they (the orphans) can settle as children here,” he said in his speech when officiating at the Majlis Khatam Al-Quran and breaking of fast at the complex here yesterday (April 14).

Yusnar also said taking care of the orphans’ needs was a shared responsibility among all communities, not only the welfare bodies or the association’s duty.

He stressed that even inside the Quran, the orphan is mentioned about 23 times, which shows the importance of the community taking care of them.

“Therefore, I urged all the communities, be they Muslim or non-Muslim, to continue to support us in our efforts to take care of orphans.

“Meanwhile, for those who have contributed to our welfare complex, thank you. Without your support, we will definitely face a few difficulties in running our activities and taking care of the children here. We really appreciate your continuous support,” he said.
