SERIAN: Swift action by a homeowner saved the house from being destroyed in an early morning fire here today (Aug 31).
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the 7.10 am incident.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Serian station were deployed to the scene after being alerted to the incident.
By the time they arrived, the flames were already extinguished by the owner.
It was confirmed that the fire involved a Chinese prayer altar in the living room, which was on the second floor of a shophouse.
About 40 per cent of the room was damaged.
