BELAGA: The Uma Nyaving longhouse in Long Mejawah Sungai Asap, was razed to the ground early today morning (Sept 11).
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from its Belaga station were rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call around 8am.
Sungai Asap auxiliary firefighters were also deployed to the scene to assist in extinguishing efforts.
But on arrival, the team found that the two-storey, 15-door longhouse was already destroyed.
At the time of writing, the exact number of affected residents and the cause of the fire had yet to be reported.
