DEBAK: The body of six-year-old Mohd Naqib Iman Masriman, who was feared drowned in Sungai Ribas, Kampung Hilir Debak Laut, last Thursday (Sept 28) has been recovered.

The Betong Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) was informed by the Debak Volunteer Fire Brigade (PBSD) on the recovery at 10 pm.

“A night-time search operation was conducted by PBDS and village residents using boats downstream.

“The victim’s body was found floating 700 metres from the victim’s last known location,” Bomba said.

The deceased was handed over to the police for further action.

Earlier on Thursday around 9.15 am, the victim was reported to have left his residence unaccompanied to the river.

Witnesses said the boy was heading towards the boat dock during high tide.

Family members who were informed hurried to the dock, lonely to find the boy’s slippers and shirt. They filed a police report.
