SIBU: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Dudong branch chairman Wong Ching Yong hopes a heart centre can be built to accommodate the needs of patients in the central region.
“This is my biggest dream for the Year of the Dragon, for the people of Sibu. It is very urgent. If you look at the statistics, heart disease is the leading killer in Malaysia.
“Many people suffer from heart disease, especially heart failure and heart attacks, making it a very urgent issue. I hope that a heart centre can be developed and planned in the coming years,” he said when met by reporters at SUPP Dudong Chinese New Year open house at its service centre here today.
Wong stressed that a heart centre in central region can provide early treatment to the patients.
He urged the two members of parliament in Sibu, namely Lanang MP Alice Lau and Sibu MP Oscar Ling, to play their part so that the establishment of the center can be realised immediately.
“I also hope that Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, my president (SUPP), will help me and all the people of Sibu to get a heart centre,” he said.
Meanwhile, the SUPP Dudong branch open house was held in a lively atmosphere with the presence of thousands of people from various ethnic and religious backgrounds.
Also present were SUPP Dudong advisor Datuk Dr Soon Choon Teck and Chinese paramount leader Temenggong Datuk Vincent Lau Lee Ming.
