SIBU: Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee praised Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for his visionary leadership, attributing the progress Sarawak has made to his clear direction and relentless efforts since assuming office in 2017.
Speaking at the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Chinese New Year celebration 2024 and the party’s 65th-anniversary dinner, the Deputy Public Health, Housing and Local Government Minister noted Abang Johari’s pivotal role in steering the state towards prosperity.
“Since (Abang Johari) assumed premiership in 2017, he had very clear directions for Sarawak. Ever since then, he has made breakthrough after breakthrough and I am truly confident that the economy in Sarawak will take off and we will become a high-income state by 2030,” he said last night (Feb 17).
The Pelawan assemblyman stressed the importance of Sibu receiving Abang Johari’s guidance and blessings, expressing the community’s desire to align themselves with his leadership.
“We understand very well that you are leading Sarawak like a jet plane, running fast on the runway to take off and we Sibu don’t want to miss your flight and to be left at Sibu Airport – Tengok Sahaja!
“To all my Sibu folks, let’s get ourselves united and ready, we need to run together and run faster. We need to rally behind our Premier and give him our full support to build a better and a more prosperous Sarawak, including Sibu,” he said.
Tiang also cautioned members of SUPP and the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition against the consequences of internal discord.
“We should always remain united and never try to be busy serving our own agenda. SUPP learned a hard lesson that there should not be any ideas of backstabbing to disrupt the harmony.
“GPS is a big family, we should learn from one another so that we don’t repeat the mistakes that history has taught us. United we stand tall, Divided we shall fall,” he added.
