MIRI: Chinese associations should embrace new technologies and adapt to change in order to stay competitive.

State Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin said that by exploiting online communication platforms, virtual events, and digital marketing strategies, these associations can stay ahead of the curve.

“There are countless ways for Chinese associations to leverage technology to move forward. By embracing innovation, these associations can position themselves for success in the digital age and continue to grow and thrive in the future,” said Lee at the Miri Chiang Hsia Huang Clan Association dinner.

His speech was delivered by Cr Jeffery Phang on his behalf at a restaurant in Permyjaya on Sunday night.

Furthermore, Lee highlighted the universal appeal of Chinese New Year celebrations in Sarawak, noting their vibrant and festive nature that transcends cultural boundaries.

“The streets are adorned with colourful decorations, lanterns, and traditional Chinese motifs as everyone comes together to usher in the new year. The spirit of Chinese New Year symbolises hope, prosperity, and new beginnings for all participants, fostering a sense of togetherness and harmony in Sarawak,” he added.

Also present were Cr Kelvin Chia Kah Leong, representing Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts I, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew; Kelvin Hii, representing Miri Mayor Adam Yii; and the event’s organising chairman, Allen Wong.
