KUCHING: The renowned Great British Circus will debut its Sarawak tour, kicking off in in the city from June 8 to July 14 at the Sarawak State Stadium here, followed by a tour in Miri from July 27 to August 25 at the Boulevard Shopping Mall.

The daily two-hour show promises a rich variety of family entertainment, featuring a blend of comedy, stunts, dazzling acrobatics, vibrant dance performances, and more

Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah highlighted the event as a significant addition to Sarawak’s tourism offerings beyond cultural events and food festivals.

“New happenings are coming to Sarawak alongside established events like the Rainforest World Music Festival and Borneo Jazz Festival. This event will contribute to the local economy and create jobs for our local talents and businesses.

“This is also something entertaining for the whole family. Circus is always something for the whole family, and I believe this will definitely be welcomed by a lot of Sarawakians,” he told a press conference at Baitul Makmur II Building here yesterday (May 30),

Meanwhile, circus owner Lord Kiril Kirilov, who hails from Bulgaria, said the show will feature 150 crew members from more than 10 countries including Ukraine, South America, Brazil, Colombia, the United Kingdom, and Bulgaria.

“You will see different acts, including comedy, acrobatics, dancing, and singing; which we are excited for audiences to experience,” he added.

Furthermore, Kirilov expressed hopes of improving their circus performances and establishing a routine of visiting Kuching annually or biennially with fresh and diverse shows, including musicals and on-ice performances.

“We aim to bring the circus to every corner because children may not yet appreciate ballet or opera. I believe the circus is the perfect introduction to show them the magic of live performance,” he said.

He also hinted that one of the performers is a Sarawakian girl.

Tickets are available for children aged 3 to 12 and adults, ranging from RM30 to RM150, at www.greatbritishcircus.com.

Also present were the MTCP deputy minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan and permanent secretary Datuk Sherrina Hussaini, and Sarawak Sports Corporation CEO Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan.
