TELUK MELANO: Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah’s return to Telok Melano reflects his commitment to strengthening the close relationship between Sarawak and Pahang.
Santubong MP Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the people in her constituency deeply appreciated Al-Sultan Abdullah’s return to officiate Masjid Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today.
“On behalf of those of us in the Santubong constituency, we greatly appreciate the presence of His Royal Highness the Sultan, who has kept his promise to return.
“Today, His Royal Highness planted a tree, and this demonstrates his commitment to strengthening the bonds of friendship and brotherhood between Sarawak and Pahang,” she said when met by reporters.
Nancy described the relationship as a positive example that could be extended to other states in the country.
She also expressed appreciation for the state government’s support in fostering such cooperation and ties.
“We hope this can also be extended to other states so that this harmony can be fostered among all states in Malaysia, not only Sarawak. Hopefully, this can serve as a model for other states,” she said.
Nancy also welcomed Al-Sultan Abdullah’s indication that he intends to return to the area next year.
“We look forward to his return,” she said.
Meanwhile, commenting on Al-Sultan Abdullah’s suggestion of establishing greater connectivity between Pulau Tioman in Pahang and Telok Melano, Nancy described it as a good proposal.
However, she said any sea connection would require detailed discussions between Sarawak and Pahang due to the regulations, procedures and laws involved.
She added that multiple agencies and ministries would also be involved in any proposal involving maritime connectivity.
