KUCHING: The Gawai Dayak celebration plays an important role in Sarawak’s aspiration to become a harmonious state.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said that although the Gawai festival was celebrated by the Dayak community, Sarawakians took part in the celebrations regardless of their races.
“This is the best part of Sarawak traditions and is an important part of Sarawak’s nation building,” he said in his Gawai message today.
Following this, he said with the state moving towards 2030, Sarawak would become the most prosperous, most inclusive and environmentally sustainable states in the country.
“Hari Gawai will be a very important part of this objective. Having said that, I want to take this opportunity to wish every Sarawakian, no matter where you are, Selamat Hari Gawai,” he said.
