MIRI: A fatal collision between two motorcycles on the Miri – Pujut road early Saturday morning has resulted in the death of a 42-year-old rider.
Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu reported that police received information about the fatal crash at approximately 12:10 am on June 8.
The accident happened just after midnight, involved a Yamaha Y15 ZR and a Honda Wave.
“The Yamaha Y15 ZR, ridden by the 42-year-old man, and the Honda Wave, ridden by a 57-year-old man, were both traveling towards Miri City when the collision took place,” Alexson stated.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the Honda Wave rider, who was on the right lane, abruptly changed course, resulting in a collision with the Yamaha Y15 ZR coming from the left lane.
The impact caused significant damages to both motorcycles. Tragically, the rider of Yamaha Y15 ZR was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Honda Wave rider sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Police have since opened an investigation into the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
