KUCHING: A total of 423 security personnel will be deployed to maintain peace and order during the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) 2024 from June 28 to 30.

They comprise members and officers from Kuching district police headquarters (IPD), People’s Volunteer Corp (Rela), Mahafiz Security, and the Sarawak Security and Enforcement Unit (UPKS).

Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the personnel are in a state of high readiness for peacekeeping duties throughout the festival at the Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV).

“With visitor attendance estimated to reach up to 10,000 people in the three days, we call on the public to always cooperate, obey the law, and follow any instructions from the police.

“This is to avoid any incidents that could disturb public order and cause harm,” he said, adding that drones in the festival area is strictly prohibited without approval or a permit.

“Anyone found flying a drone without approval and permission, is committing an offence under the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016,” he said.

In addition, visitors are advised not to park their vehicles by the roadside to avoid obstructing traffic flow. Instead, they should follow the instructions of officers and use the provided parking spaces.

To ease traffic congestion, visitors are encouraged to use shuttle buses or vans provided by the organisers from the city centre to the festival site.
