SADONG JAYA: Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Haji Bujang Rangawan Putin will get a new administration block and toilet facilities for pupils and teachers under Phase 3 of the Dilapidated School Programme.
Batang Sadong MP Rodiyah Sapiee said construction would begin once the Ministry of Economy approved an additional allocation sought following an increase in project costs.
She said the project was initially allocated RM2.1 million, but the amount was no longer sufficient due to rising construction costs.
“The Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD) had submitted a Notice of Change (NOC) to the ministry to increase the allocation to RM3.421 million.
“Once the additional funding is approved by the Ministry of Economy, the tender process can proceed before construction begins.
“The ministry has also conducted a site assessment, and we hope the approval will be expedited so that more comfortable, conducive and safer facilities can be provided for the school community,” she said.
Rodiyah was speaking during the 60th annual sports meet of SK Haji Bujang Rangawan Putin on Sunday (Jul 5).
She said she was prepared to consider the school’s request for a new hall if a suitable site could be identified.
She added that annual allocations for all schools in the parliamentary constituency would be disbursed simultaneously, with the distribution expected around August or September.
Meanwhile, she described the annual sports meet as an important platform for instilling discipline, building character and fostering teamwork among pupils, teachers and parents.
Rodiyah also commended the active involvement of parents through the parent-teacher association (PTA), saying their support encouraged pupils to give their best throughout the competition.
