KUCHING: Chemsain Konsultant Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) and the Forest Department Sarawak (FDS), planted 502 trees at the Sabal Forest Reserve here on Saturday (Oct 19).
The initiative involved planting saplings of high-value indigenous species such as belian, meranti, and kapur, with 100 participants from all parties, including representatives from the local Sabal community.
This event is part of Chemsain’s ongoing restoration efforts, which began in August 2023, in support of the Greening Sarawak Campaign led by FDS.
The campaign is a key Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) effort aimed at combating climate change through environmental conservation.
To date, more than 35 million trees have been planted in Sarawak, the highest figure among Malaysian states.
Also present were Chemsain director Brian Chong, JBALB Deputy Director Thomas Lucas Santang, and FDS officer Rohanie Bohan.
