KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian recently distributed Sarawak government Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants to several schools around the Batu Kawa constituency.

Dr Sim, who is also the Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, noted that the funds were provided to support the schools’ end-of-year activities.

“Although the school year-end is still not back to the usual schedule (due to Covid-19 adjustments), there are still many activities planned in schools for students and teachers during the Christmas and New Year break,” he said in his Facebook post, Monday (Nov 11).

Among the recipients were the Board of Management of Sekolah Rendah Chung Hua Sungai Moyan, SJK Chung Hua Sungai Tapang, the Board of Management of Chung Hua Batu Kawa, Lembaga Pengurus Sekolah (LPS) SJK Chung Hua Syn San Too, and the SJK Chung Hua Stapok Rebuilding Committee.

Other recipients of the grants included LPS SJK Chung Hua Kim Choo Seng, LPS SJK Chung Hua Rantau Panjang, LPS SJK Chung Hua Sungai Tapang Batu Kawa, LPS SJK Chung Hua Sejijak, and LPS SJK Chung Hua Pengkalan Baru.

However, Dr Sim did not disclose the total amount of the grant via the post.

“Sincere apologies; this time (not as usual), I was not able to visit each school to hand out the financial grants due to the DUN sitting, and unfortunately, the Sarawak government cheques had a rather short expiration date,” he added.
