66 honoured with Diamond Jubilee medals at Sarawak’s 60th independence anniversary

KUCHING: A total of 66 individuals were awarded the prestigious Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Medals in celebration of Sarawak’s 60th independence anniversary during a special ceremony held at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly building here, Wednesday (Nov 27).

The medals were presented by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, accompanied by his wife Datuk Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud.

Leading the list of recipients for the Gold Diamond Jubilee Medal were Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, and Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63, and Federal-State Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.

For the Silver Diamond Jubilee Service Medal, former Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Seri Mortadza Nazarene topped the list of honourees.

Other recipients included Ministry of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development permanent secretary Datuk Felicia Tan Ya Hua, Council for Native Customs and Traditions Sarawak (MAIS) chief Datuk Ronnie Edward, Sarawak Native Court Chief Registrar Datuk Johnathan Lugoh, and Zecon Berhad chairman Datuk Hamzah Drahman.

Additional honourees included Datuk Wan Alwi Datuk Seri Wan Hashim, Datuk Kameri Affandi, Datuk Maria Hasman, Datuk Sulaiman Husaini, Datuk Anthony Nogeh Gumbek, Datuk Dr Zaiedi Suhaili, Datuk Norhyati Mohd Ismail, Datuk Sulaiman Narawi, Datuk Abang Shamshudin Abang Seruji, Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, Liew Jiu Ming, Robert Menua Saleh, Semawi Mohamad, and Bibiana Ng Pei Chin.

Furthermore, 45 individuals received the Bronze Diamond Jubilee Medal, with Datuk Seri Syed Hamzah Syed Paie leading the list, followed by Datuk Hasmawati Sapawi, Datuk Jack Liam, Datuk Georgina Apphia Ngau, Samat Junai, among others.

Also present were State Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar, Deputy Minister for Transport Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, and Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Administration) Datuk Buckland Bangik.
