KUCHING: Today (Nov 29) to Dec 1, Bau REDEEMS Centre is set to host the inaugural.
About 10,000 visitors are expected to be present during the three-day carnival.
Organised by Kelab Rekreasi Mas Moyan Kuching, the carnival serves a platform to empower the local youth towards raising the standards of the event management industry.
One main goal the event wants to achieve is to hone local talents.
The carnival features a variety of activities aimed at fostering youth creativity and showcasing their skills.
With the right support, the event will benefit both the youth and the community by enhancing engagement and positioning Bau as a talent hub.
Another goal of the event is to drive youth involvement through diverse activities catering to various interests.
Through competitions, platforms are created for young talents to shine, together with the inclusive environment that inspires active community engagement, fostering pride and ownership in the region’s progress.
Lastly, the carnival celebrates inclusivity with diverse activities, uniting people of Bau of all ages and backgrounds as it encourages interactions, collaborations and shared joy, enhancing community bonds and fostering collective pride in building strong unity.
During a recent press conference on the carnival, Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said he wanted to expose the youth towards events like the carnival.
“We give the youth the opportunity to handle events ike this, and the carnival drives youth involvement to diverse activities,” he said.
“Parents also play an important role by encouraging and supporting them to be part of the event,” he added.
Highlights of the event include a beauty pageant, a Belia Bau Idol competition and a singing programme where talented individuals compete to be crowned Bau’s next singing sensation.
There will also be a fitness programme and zumba to promote health and well-being.
Community outreach programmes will consist of special initiatives including Kenyalang Gold Card applications for senior citizens, and free health screenings, making essential services accessible to the community.
There will also be a football competition to keep fans on the edge of their seats.
For the local concerts, expect some of the biggest names in the local music industry to perform including Bintang RTM 2024 Roxy Ixzy, and other acts such as The Burnt, Lock N Load, The Pharmacist DJ, Ellawati and DJ Liszt.
The Bau Youth Carnival 2024 serves as a strategic platform to strengthen community spirit and unity, further highlighting Bau’s rich cultural heritage.
