BINTANGOR: The Youth Wing members of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) in the Semop constituency continued their tradition of the Semop Christmas Exploration Journey in conjunction with the upcoming Christmas Day celebration.

According to Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information, and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol, the main objective of the programme is to strengthen friendships and understanding among young people of various races and religions within the Semop constituency.

“This programme has also been held for other celebrations such as Hari Raya, Gawai, and Chinese New Year.

“Besides infrastructure development, building character and human values are equally important in our efforts to create a prosperous and progressive Sarawak,” he said on Thursday.

Abdullah, the Semop assemblyman further added that such activities help strengthen the bonds among communities of diverse cultures, particularly fostering understanding between the younger generation and older adults to encourage collaboration in various community activities in their respective settlements.

As in previous years, the programme is enlivened by a Christmas Motorcycle Convoy visiting several longhouses of the Christian community over two days.

The annual programme is a collaborative initiative between the Semop N42 State Assemblyman Service Centre and the Semop branch of Saberkas.

This year’s Christmas Motorcycle Convoy involved 40 young participants from various longhouses, along with youths from Malay and Melanau villages.

The programme activities included the distribution of Christmas tree as souvenirs to 22 longhouses around Selidap, Sungai Sian, Muara Bunut, Berangan, Telok Gelam, and Pulau Bruit.
