KUCHING: The ‘Rock In The Jungle’ (RITJ) concert has the potential to become a signature annual event for rock music fans in Sarawak, said Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
“I see RITJ as having great potential to grow in the coming years, as there are many rock fans, not only in Sarawak but also in neighbouring countries,” he told reporters at the first day of the concert held at the Sarawak Cultural Village on Saturday night.
“It can also provide a platform for rock music enthusiasts and fans of bands like these to enjoy themselves,” he added.
He encouraged more event organisers to take the initiative to host similar concerts, highlighting Sarawak’s strong ties with neighbouring countries like Indonesia, Brunei, and Peninsular Malaysia, which would facilitate international fan attendance.
“Moreover, next year we will have our own airline. If we organise music events like this, whether rock or otherwise, it will attract visitors to Sarawak and further boost the tourism industry,” Abdul Karim said.
