LIMBANG: The Limbang Division Resident’s Office has outlined plans for over 15 major programmes in 2025, focusing on boosting the district’s tourism and economic sectors.
Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said that these initiatives aimed to attract more tourists, enhance local economic activities and create new employment and business opportunities for the community.
He highlighted that Limbang currently recorded over 4,000 visitors daily, establishing it as one of Sarawak’s most popular tourist destinations.
“Based on entry and exit data from the Immigration Department, Limbang District ranks among the most visited divisions this year even if some visitors are only transiting.
“This is a remarkable achievement. The major programmes we organise will encourage more people to visit Limbang while revitalising the local economy and benefitting traders,” Dr Abdul Rahman said.
He said this in his speech delivered by the chairman of Limbang District Council, Councillor Sufian Mohat during the 2025 New Year celebration held at the Limbang Waterfront Amphitheatre recently.
The event, organised by the Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (SABERKAS) Bukit Kota Branch, attracted visitors from diverse backgrounds. They gathered to welcome the New Year with a series of engaging activities and lively stage performances.
