MIRI: The SOP Foundation, the charitable arm of Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP), has stepped in to assist communities affected by recent flooding in Bintulu and here.
As persistent heavy rainfall continues to displace families, the foundation has mobilised essential supplies to support those seeking refuge at emergency shelters.
Relief aid, comprising food provisions, clean drinking water, and other necessities, has been distributed across multiple designated flood relief centres in both regions.
In Miri, assistance has reached evacuation centres including Dewan Pusat Bulan Sabit Merah, Dewan Pujut Tanjung, Dewan Kampung Sukan Petronas, SK Agama Miri, and Balai Raya Kampung Pujut Adong.
Meanwhile, in Bintulu, affected families at PPS SMK Assyakirin and PPS Kidurong have received aid.
Speaking on behalf of the foundation, Iris Yong reaffirmed SOP Foundation’s commitment to supporting the community in times of crisis.
“We recognise the immense challenges faced by those affected by the floods and hope that our contributions provide some immediate relief. SOP Foundation remains dedicated to assisting communities in need,” she said.
The foundation continues to work in close collaboration with local authorities and relief agencies to ensure aid is distributed efficiently to those who require it most.
