MIRI: The Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA) is set to hold its bi-annual general meeting (BGM) this Sunday at the City Rise Hotel, here starting at 9 am.

The meeting will feature the election of a new executive committee for the 2025-2026 term, succeeding the outgoing committee.

According to NSJA secretary Clare Cinderella, the official notice of the BGM was issued to all members earlier this week.

Cinderella reminded members that only full-time ones are eligible to vote in the elections.

Although associate members are not permitted to vote, they are encouraged to attend the meeting to observe proceedings, review the association’s annual report, and participate in the question-and-answer session, as well as discussions on motions and suggestions that may be tabled.

“All relevant forms, including those for submitting motions, were distributed with the meeting notice and must be returned by the deadline specified,” she added.

In addition to the election, the agenda will include discussions on NSJA’s planned activities for the year, with a special focus on the association’s upcoming 50th anniversary dinner, scheduled for April 2025.

“The meeting will conclude with the handover of duties from the outgoing president, secretary, and treasurer to their successors, should there be any changes in the election results,” said Cinderella.

The BGM will conclude with an address from the newly elected president, followed by a luncheon for all attending members at the same venue.
