KAPIT: The involvement of external parties, such as government agencies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), plays a vital role in shaping students’ character and preparing them to contribute to the nation’s progress.

Kapit District Education Officer Gani Egit said besides the support of parents and the local community, the presence of government agencies like the Department of Information Malaysia (JAPEN) is an added value to schools, as students can expand their knowledge through activities organized by JAPEN via the Kelab Malaysiaku programme.

“I am particularly impressed with some of the activities offered by Kelab Malaysiaku, as they are filled with various programmes such as emceeing workshops, patriotic programmes, and exposure to government policies and initiatives.

“Therefore, I fully support JAPEN’s activities and Kelab Malaysiaku because student development is not only limited to academic excellence but also their ability to understand matters beyond formal teaching and learning (PdP) in the classroom,” he said.

He said this during a courtesy visit by Kapit District Information Officer Mohd Said Kalihing at Wisma Persekutuan Kapit yesterday.

Meanwhile, Gani also expressed hope that other schools would fully commit to JAPEN to ensure that the department’s presence brings a positive impact on student and school development, particularly in the Kapit area.
