MIRI: Pujut assemblyman Adam Yii Siew Sang has allocated funding for the upgrade of a sports facility in Piasau Jaya, aiming to enhance public amenities and provide residents with an improved recreational space.

During an inspection of the project’s progress on Wednesday (Feb 26), Yii reminded the contractor of the need to uphold construction quality, ensuring all works adhere strictly to engineering drawings and specifications.

He also stressed the importance of meeting the project timeline to ensure smooth completion.

“The initiative is funded under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), a grant provided by the Sarawak government.

“The programme seeks to enhance basic public infrastructure within the Pujut constituency, fostering a more comfortable and liveable environment for residents.

“Once completed, the upgraded facility will serve as a suitable venue for various activities.”

The project includes the construction of a reinforced concrete (RC) stage, steel frames, metal cladding, ceilings, and a heavy-duty tiled finish for both the stage floor slab and the RC staircases.

These durable materials have been chosen to ensure longevity and safety.

Additionally, the upgrade will feature the construction of two female toilets, one male toilet, and one disabled-friendly (OKU) toilet, all equipped with modern facilities.

Heavy-duty, wear-resistant tiles will be used for the walls, while non-slip tiles will be installed on the floors to enhance safety and durability.

Yii noted that the project, once completed, will not only improve the overall environment of Piasau Jaya but also provide better infrastructure for the local community.

He expressed hope that the upgraded facilities would encourage more residents to utilise the space, fostering community engagement and wellbeing.
