KUCHING: The Persatuan Nelayan Darat Kampung Paya Mebi project has taken a major step forward, with Syarikat SESCO Berhad (SESCO) granting consent for the use of their access road to the project site.
In a statement on Friday, Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang expressed his gratitude to SESCO for their approval, emphasising that this collaboration is crucial in enhancing local infrastructure and boosting tourism in the constituency.
“This project, which will feature a scenic fishing spot, chalets, a canteen, and a picturesque walkway along the riverbank, is set to become a new tourism attraction for Batu Kitang,” he said.
The development received a significant boost with an allocation of RM7 million from Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, further ensuring the project’s successful execution.
“With this support, the next step will be for our architects to submit the proposal to the State Planning Authority (SPA) for consideration and approval. I look forward to seeing this project benefit the local community and further elevate Batu Kitang as a key tourism destination,” Lo added.
