KUCHING: The Lun Bawang community leaders must focus on nurturing future generations who are both capable and uphold high integrity, says Bakelalan assemblyman Baru Bian.
He stressed that strong and ethical leadership is essential for the community continued progress.
You are the new generation of leaders who will pave the way forward. Be professional in your duties, raise your standards, and uphold integrity so that you may serve as role models for the younger generation.
By setting a good example, we not only preserve our unity but also become a reference point for the wider community.
Baru made these remarks at the Sarawak Lun Bawang Association (PLBS) Women’s Division & PLBS Kuching Branch Women’s Division Dinner Programme held here today.
He also recognised the significant impact of women within the community.
“Women play a highly effective role and are dedicated to the tasks entrusted to them.”
Among those present at the event were Sam Laya, political secretary to the Sarawak Premier; Dr Kasing Apun, PLBS Kuching Division adviser; Dorothy Suut, PLBS Sarawak Women’s Division chairperson; and Zehegkiel Piree, PLBS Kuching Branch chairperson.
In addition to leadership development, Baru urged the continuous preservation of the Lun Bawang community’s customs and traditions to ensure their unique cultural heritage is promoted to a wider audience.
Well-planned and engaging programmes can further promote Lun Bawang culture. Therefore, it is crucial for PLBS to remain consistent in organising community and cultural activities.
To support these efforts, he announced a contribution of RM25,000 to PLBS Kuching and RM10,000 to the PLBS Sarawak Women’s Division for cultural and community programmes throughout the year.
