KUCHING: The annual Sumbangsih Raya programme, organised by the Sarawak Women and Family Department, is held to appreciate the contributions of security, uniformed and enforcement personnel on duty during Aidilfitri.
Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah stated that the programme’s main objective is to ensure the preparation and packaging of contributions are completed on schedule.
According to her, the presentation ceremony will be officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on March 7.
“This programme started in 2013 with only two recipient agencies and 5,000 contribution boxes. However, the number has increased annually, with 12,000 packages prepared for 11 agencies in 2024 and 2025.
“The Sarawak government remains committed to continuing this program as a token of appreciation for those on duty on Aidilfitri morning.”

Fatimah said this at the Sumbangsih Raya 2025 (SR25) packaging ceremony at Wisma Wanita, on Wednesday (March 5).
She noted the importance of this programme in honouring security personnel who sacrifice for the people’s wellbeing.
“While we celebrate Aidilfitri with our families, they are on duty to ensure peace, sovereignty and public safety. There is undoubtedly sadness in their hearts and among their families who have to celebrate without their loved ones.
“The Sumbangsih Raya box may be small, but their sacrifices are far greater and invaluable. This is a token of respect and appreciation from the Sarawak government to our heroes.”
In addition to the official presentation on March 7, a visit to several locations will be conducted on March 12 to personally deliver contributions to the recipients on duty.
Among the recipients are the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Malaysian Prisons Department (JPM), and the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).
Fatimah hopes this initiative can continue on a rotational basis in the future to ensure more security personnel receive the recognition they deserve.
