KUCHING: The Meow Autism Charity Run 2025, set to take place on April 13, has received an overwhelming response.
Organising chairperson Ryan Jee said he hoped the event would serve as a catalyst for more initiatives supporting the autism community in the future.
“More than 2,300 participants have registered, with numbers expected to increase after the festive season. Corporate support has also grown, with over 4,000 registrations, including sponsorships from major companies.
“The event has secured eight to 10 sponsors, providing financial backing and in-kind contributions such as 4,000 units of croissants, bottled water, and other products,” he said after the press conference and mock cheque presentation for the run at the Kuching Autistic Association’s (KAA) Education and Vocational Training Centre yesterday (Mar 7).

Currently, RM20,000 has been raised, but additional funding is needed to cover the association’s operational costs and facility expansion.
“The need for more space is becoming urgent, with plans to relocate to a second building to accommodate the growing autism community.
“Without the support of sponsors, this event would not have been possible. Their contributions are not only financial but also include manpower and various forms of assistance,” he added.
Beyond fundraising, the event aims to raise public awareness about autism and provide opportunities for interaction with the autism community in Kuching.
“This is not just a charity run; it is a platform for fostering understanding and acceptance of the autism community,” he said.
The organisers also hope more companies will step forward through participation or financial contributions to support programmes benefiting individuals with autism.
The public can register for the run online at http://t2u.asia/e/38633 or manually at the KAA office.
