KUCHING: The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) Sarawak Branch, in collaboration with the Kuching Parkinson’s Society (KPS), is organising a public health awareness event titled ‘Moving Forward with Parkinson’s’ in conjunction with World Parkinson’s Day.
The event aims to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease and provide essential support to those affected.
As part of the initiative, representatives from MMA Sarawak and KPS paid a courtesy call on Deputy Premier, Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, on April 18 at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here to invite him as the guest of honour for the forum.
Public registration for the event officially opens today, offering a valuable platform for healthcare professionals, caregivers and individuals with Parkinson’s disease to engage in meaningful discussions and learn about comprehensive care approaches.
“MMA is grateful to be part of this initiative, as Parkinson’s disease requires a holistic approach that combines clinical treatment with non-clinical support.
“Collaborations with organisations like KPS are essential in extending patient care beyond clinical settings into their daily lives.
“This event provides an opportunity for various stakeholders to work together in offering better support for this often-overlooked community,” said MMA Sarawak Branch chairman, Dr Ong Eng-Joe.
The organisers hope that this event will enhance public understanding of Parkinson’s disease and foster stronger collaboration between medical professionals and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in improving patient care.
