KUCHING: There will be a water supply interruption from 10 pm on Friday, Apr 18 until 7 am on Saturday (Apr 19), affecting several areas across Petra Jaya and parts of Jalan Matang.

The Kuching Water Board (KWB) announced that the disruption is necessary to facilitate urgent repair works to a damaged 1400mm diameter mild steel cement-lined (MSCL) pipe located at Jalan Highfield Light Industrial, near Jalan Batu Kawa.

“The areas expected to experience low water pressure or a total loss of supply include the stretch along Jalan Matang from Kubah Ria to Batu 9, as well as Taman Sri Harmoni, Jalan Sungai Tengah, Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman Yakub, Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Muhamad Salahudin, Jalan Demak, Jalan Bako, Muara Tebas, and nearby communities within the Petra Jaya vicinity. This also includes zones under the jurisdiction of the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB).

“Consumers are advised that during the recovery phase, they may encounter low pressure, airlocks, and possibly discoloured or murky water,” KWB said in its statement.

To ease the impact, KWB will mobilise water tankers to supply alternative water access to affected areas throughout the disruption period.

“Residents are strongly encouraged to store sufficient water in advance.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate the public’s patience and understanding as we carry out these necessary repairs,” KWB added.

For further enquiries, consumers may contact the KWB Call Centre at 082-222333 or send an SMS to 019-8866650.
