SIBU: The implementation of government projects based on the Bill of Quantities (BQ) can help avoid delays caused by Change Order Notices (NOCs), said Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee.
The Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development said that previously, a ceiling price was provided for each project, but it was sometimes insufficient.
“This led to the need for NOCs, which delayed the projects. Now, when the implementing agency proposes a project, it submits an estimate and we approve the budget immediately.
“This ensures there are no issues with funding and the project timeline can be expedited. I believe this approach is the best,” he said when met by reporters during his visit to Rh Bongkong here yesterday (April 21).
Meanwhile, on Rh Bongkong, the Nangka assemblyman said it was the oldest longhouse in the Nangka constituency and was currently undergoing extensive repairs, including work on the walls, windows, doors, ceilings, and rewiring.
He said the RM500,000 project aimed to preserve the longhouse’s traditional identity.
“This longhouse, with 19 doors, is the oldest in the Nangka Constitutency. That’s why I am committed to preserving it and maintaining the original structure and identity,” he said.
Dr Annuar also revealed that several Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects for 2025 would be implemented this year, and initial discussions with longhouse chiefs would be held to plan the RTP projects for 2026.
However, he did not reveal further details on the planned projects.
