KUCHING: The Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) continues to intensify its efforts to support local artists with a new contemporary art exhibition.
Its Mayor, Datuk Hilmy Othman, said that DBKU has taken a very drastic effort to provide a platform for individuals who wish to showcase their artistic talents to the people of Kuching, allowing them to be acknowledged and appreciated for their artistic contributions.
“It is our ambition and our intention also to support the industry, in particular to give the Kuching people the opportunity to enjoy and look into the effort by all these participants, especially well-known artists.
“We are very delighted and grateful that Jaja Yusof, a well-known contemporary artist from Kuala Lumpur, is here with us, and she told us that this is a very prestigious effort for her to be given the opportunity to exhibit and showcase this product,” he said.
He said this after officiating the Jaja Yusof Solo Art Exhibition titled ‘Naive Perspectives: Colours in Motions’ at DBKU Cat Museum here today.

He also added that this effort should be explored on a broader scale, allowing the exhibition’s works to reach wider audiences, and potentially be showcased on an international platform.
“We want to play our part as a city council to encourage all our local artists to be at this level, and obviously to be at the international level.
“Hence, we would like to thank Jaja for her effort and commitment, and I can consider this is a bold and a daring effort by her, having a solo exhibition for a long month, a few months, until we celebrate our Hari Bandaraya on August 1, and closing ceremony set for August 3,” he added.
Hilmy also expressed hope that more artists will come forward and work with DBKU to showcase their work.
“Hopefully, we are also encouraging other participants, other artists, to collaborate with DBKU so that together we can make things happen, to exhibit and showcase their effort and their commitment for the benefit of the whole of the Kuching North people,” he said.
