THE demand for additional seats for Parliamentary and the State constituencies is still under discussion, and the exact number of additional seats has yet to be finalised as ongoing talks with the Federal Government continue.

Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Law, MA63, and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, said that talks under the MA63 framework remain active, and the Sarawak Government will persist in advocating for stronger representation in the Dewan Rakyat.

“No final decision has been reached with regard to the upcoming redelineation of constituencies,” she said.

She said this during the question-and-answer session at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here on Friday in a written reply to Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh (GPS-Bawang Assan).

“The Sarawak Government is steadfast in its efforts to restore the one-third parliamentary representation for Sarawak and Sabah as originally outlined under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and the Inter-Governmental Committee (IGC) Report 1962,”she said.
