KUCHING: State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar said he has yet to receive any Bill for the special one-day DUN sitting scheduled for July 7.
However, he confirmed that a notice has been issued for the meeting under Standing Order 8(3).
“The Premier presented to me that he is desirous of calling a meeting on 7th of July, 2025.
“Pursuant to that, and in tandem with that presentation, I issued a notice calling for a meeting of all the honourable members, 82 of them, for a meeting in the DUN on 7th of July 2025.
“So far, I have not received any bill regarding this.
“Once I receive the bill, as usual, our practices shall be a pre-council. I shall call for a press conference and brief all of you what it is all about,” he told a press conference after officiating at the First Session of the UiTM Sarawak Branch Student Parliament Conference held at the DUN Complex here today.
He added that the one-day sitting is scheduled to run from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm with the possibility of extension under Standing Order 9, if necessary.
Asked if the session would address the redelineation exercise, Asfia said he would not rule out the possibility.
Earlier reports mentioned that a letter signed by Asfia had been circulated to all DUN members on the special sitting, though it did not disclose the specific agenda.
