KUCHING: Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP) Sarawak chairman Michael Kong Feng Nian, together with deputy director Razami Mohamad Jamali, conducted an operational inspection of the 10th BAS.MY Kuching route on Tuesday (July 1) morning, starting from the Open Air Market to SMK Matang Jaya.
The Q02M route of BAS.MY Kuching officially began operations on Tuesday, running from the temporary Open Air Market terminal to SMK Matang Jaya.
This route involves four new OKU-friendly (disabled-friendly) buses, covering a distance of 15.6km and 19 bus stops.
“The bus schedule for this route runs from 5.30am to 7.30pm on weekdays (Monday to Friday) with a frequency of every 1 hour, and every 30 minutes during peak hours,” according to a press statement by LPKP.
While on weekends (Saturday and Sunday), buses operate from 6am to 8pm. The public can refer to the official bus schedules shared via LPKP Sarawak’s and BAS.MY Kuching’s official Facebook pages.
“Meanwhile, the fare ranges from RM0.90 to RM2.20 depending on the distance traveled. Payments can be made using debit cards, credit cards, e-wallets, and cash.”
BAS.MY Kuching also provides free fares for people with disabilities (OKU), senior citizens aged 60 and above, school students, and university students who are Malaysian citizens, by using the BAS.MY Concession Card, which can be obtained from the route operator.
Other Malaysian citizens are encouraged to utilise the 30-Day Pass priced at RM50, which offers unlimited rides for 30 days on any BAS.MY Kuching route.
With the commencement of route Q02M, BAS.MY Kuching has now completed the 10 routes originally planned since its introduction on 5 March 2025.
“Therefore, the public along BAS.MY Kuching routes are urged to fully utilise the bus service provided by the Ministry of Transport Malaysia (MOT) as a primary mode of transportation and as an alternative to reduce traffic congestion in the Kuching city centre.”
