KUCHING: Non-governmental organisation (NGO), Hope Place Kuching, recently visited a four-year-old girl, Nor Nadia Talomi, who was diagnosed with failure to thrive and speech delay.

Despite her medical condition, Nor Nadia, who is from Kampung Muhibbah, Seberang Pending, remains cheerful and active.

Her mother, Edawati, 31, said the journey to take her daughter to the clinic has not been easy.

“Every time we go to the clinic, we have to cross the river by sampan and walk for an hour to reach Tanah Puteh Polyclinic. The journey there and back takes a whole day, but we still go whenever she needs care,” she said.

Edawati is a housewife, while her husband, Talomi, 47, is a fisherman earning an unstable income. Despite that, he does what he can to support his family.

Hope Place, also known as Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching, has since extended basic food aid, including children’s milk powder, to the family while they await approval for government welfare assistance.

Those who wish to help can contact Hope Place at 082-505987 or 013-5672775.

Donations are welcome, and receipts are provided upon request.
