SERIAN: A local man was arrested for possessing suspected methamphetamine and using a car with a fake licence plate last week.
The arrest was made by the General Operations Force (GOF) 23rd Battalion at around 1 pm on Jul 29.
Sarawak GOF Brigade commander SAC Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang said the team had stopped a suspicious Proton Wira for inspection.
“Checks led to the discovery of three plastic packets containing suspcted methamphetamine and RM199.20 in cash, inside the vehicle.
“In addition, further investigation found that the vehicle was fitted with a fake licence plate.
“As a result, the 36-year-old driver was arrested and the drugs, vehicle as well as cash were seized — all of which are valued at RM25,199.20,” he said.
Che Ghazali added that both the suspect and seizures have been handed over to Serian district police headquarters (IPD) for further actions.
The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 108(3)(f) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
