PADAWAN: Police have arrested a local man suspected of raping his former wife in an incident that occurred last Friday (Aug 1) at Taman Yen Yen, Matang.
The 23-year-old’s arrest was made recently after the 18-year-old victim lodged a police report.
Padawan police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi confirmed that the 23-year-old suspect has been remanded for seven days following an order obtained from the Magistrate’s Court.
The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape, which carries up to 20 years imprisonment and whipping, upon conviction.
It was reported that the incident happened around 8 am at a house in the residential area.
