SIBU: The service centre of Sibu Member of Parliament, Oscar Ling Chai Yew, will be setting up a mobile service counter this Saturday (August 9) from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon at Kim Guong Drug Store located at 2-4B, Central Road here.
Its purpose is to assist local businesses register as Kedai MyKasih partner merchants under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme.
Ling urged interested business owners to seize this opportunity and register as Kedai MyKasih partners as soon as possible.
“My service centre will assist in the registration process and submit the necessary information to the Ministry of Finance,” he said today.
He encouraged more small-and medium-sized supermarkets and grocery stores to register as Kedai MyKasih partner merchants, as it can expand their sales opportunities.
Any business that sells at least 70 per cent of the 14 eligible product categories is qualified to apply.
“The 14-product categories are white rice, beverages, bread, eggs, seasonings, toiletries, medicines, instant noodles, biscuits, flour, stationery, canned food, cooking oil and household cleaning supplies,” he stated.
He also mentioned that successfully registered merchants will receive a Point of Sale (POS) system and a barcode scanner provided by the government.
He explained that the SARA aid programme is targeted to help low-income households by allowing them to purchase basic essential items at Kedai MyKasih partner stores.
“Beneficiaries can shop using MyKad (IC) without the need of cash transactions. Sales revenue will be automatically transferred to the merchant’s bank account twice a week. This is a win-win situation that increases both customer traffic and business revenue,” he said.
