SIBU: The service team of Sibu MP Oscar Ling Chai Yew recently set up a mobile service counter at Kim Guong Drug Store, Central Road, here to assist several local merchants in registering as Kedai MyKasih partner merchants.

Ling said that although the number of merchants registered that day fell short of expectations, it was still a step forward in promoting this new benefit to the public.

He urged merchants interested in becoming Kedai MyKasih partners to visit the DAP Headquarters at the Rejang Park commercial centre to submit their registration applications.

“The DAP Service Centre will assist merchants in submitting their information to the Federal Ministry of Finance. For merchants who have registered as Kedai MyKasih partners, my service team will help forward their details to the Federal Ministry of Finance,” he said.

Ling added that small and medium-sized supermarkets and grocery store owners who register as Kedai MyKasih partners can expand their market reach and increase sales revenue.

He said that merchants selling at least 70 per cent of goods from the 14 eligible categories can register as Kedai MyKasih partners. These categories are: white rice, beverages, bread, eggs, seasonings, bathroom products, medicines, instant noodles, biscuits, flour, stationery, canned goods, cooking oil, and household cleaning products.

According to him, benefits of registering as a Kedai MyKasih partner include receiving a government-provided point-of-sale (POS) system and a barcode scanner.

In addition, he said low-income households approved for the SARA Assistance Programme can purchase selected essential goods at designated Kedai MyKasih partner stores using their identification cards.
