SERIAN: Bukit Begunan assemblyman Datuk Mong Dagang has urged the people to take advantage of oil palm cultivation to increase their income, as it holds great potential in boosting household earnings.

He said the Sarawak government has always supported the people’s efforts in venturing into agriculture, particularly oil palm, which has a high market value.

“I hope more young people will seize this opportunity,” he said during the Community Engagement Programme with the Pantu District Office here recently.

In line with this, he called on the Department of Agriculture to review and consider new applications from residents, especially youths who are keen to venture into agriculture.

Touching on land issues, he said that community leaders must be clear about the boundaries of Native Customary Rights (NCR) land to avoid misunderstandings or conflicts in the future.

He also pledged RM7,000 for the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Rh Maureen, Kampung Kara Atas, for local community development purposes.
