SRI AMAN:
Sarawak’s standing in the boxing arena continues to grow, with its success no longer in doubt.

Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, said the progress stemmed not only from the exploits of elite fighters such as “Kilat Boy” on the international stage, but also from the rise of promising new talents.

He credited the Sarawak Amateur Boxing Association (SABA) for their proactive approach in developing the sport from grassroots to high-performance levels.

“It is very timely for SABA to organise the 4th Sarawak Open Boxing Championship 2025 from Aug 19 to 23.

“This is the right step towards producing more talents,” Francis said when officiating the meet at Sri Aman Indoor Stadium on Tuesday.

He added that the championship, held annually, had become a proven platform to maintain Sarawak’s position as a boxing powerhouse in Malaysia.

Francis also expressed hope that this year’s edition would continue to unearth more talented fighters from the Sri Aman Division.
