KUCHING: The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has pledged its full support to the police in combating suspicious premises carrying out illegal activities, including online gambling within the Padawan area.
In a meeting joined by Padawan District Police Chief, Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi, MPP Chairman Tan Kai, its Deputy Chairman Mahmud Ibrahim, Acting Municipal Secretary Goh Thiam Ho, councillors, and senior officers on Thursday, they have discussed strategies to curb the illegal activities.
“Following the meeting, the council have outlined four key approaches.
“This includes to collaborate with utility companies to cut electricity to confirmed illegal operations and working with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to act against related websites, revoking business licences through the council,” MPP said in a statement.
It added that the council would also provide full support to the police in manpower and logistics for enforcement operations.
“The council is fully committed to supporting the police in all enforcement actions to ensure Padawan remains a safer and harmonious place for residents,” it said.
