SRI AMAN: Sarawak’s SUKMA boxing squad showcased their strength and skill at the 2026 Sarawak Open Boxing Championship, clinching an impressive haul of five gold medals and one silver over the five-day meet at the Sri Aman Indoor Stadium from Aug 19 to 23.
All six boxers under the guidance of coach, Mohamad Helman Morni, returned with medals, underscoring their dominance in the state-level tournament.

Muhammad Irfan Tom Frankie (51kg), Khairil Hazami Sulam (60kg), Lam Wee Liang (63.5kg), Marcos Robert (80kg) and Patricia Jaquilina Bruce (48kg) each produced commanding displays in their respective finals to secure gold.
Meanwhile, Clavia Charlene Sudang Kenedy (52kg) battled valiantly but had to settle for silver after a hard-fought final.
Irfan, whose reputation continues to rise, was also named Best Boxer of the championship in recognition of his outstanding performance.
Coach Helman expressed pride in his charges’ achievements, praising their discipline, hard work and unwavering fighting spirit as decisive factors behind the success.
“Congratulations to all the boxers for bringing home five golds and one silver. Their discipline throughout training was a key contributor to this result,” he said, while noting that improvements were still needed in technique, tactics and mental endurance.
